How Business Finance Works
One application to the top banks. One consultant from start to signed agreement.
Submit your application
Fill in the application with your business details, the vehicle you need and how you would like the finance structured.
We submit to top banks
Your consultant prepares the application and sends it to the top banks at the same time. Each bank assesses your business on its own.
Review your offer
We work to get you the best deal we can: rate, term, monthly repayment and any conditions. Your consultant explains it and recommends the structure that suits your business.
Sign and collect
Accept an offer and the agreement is drawn up and signed. Your consultant manages the payout, including paying the dealer or seller, registration and handover.
Built Around Your Business Cash Flow
A delivery bakkie, a company car or a fleet each need something different. Carfin structures each agreement around your cash flow and how long you need the vehicle.
No balloon
Your business pays the vehicle off over the term, with no lump sum at the end. It is fully yours when the last instalment is paid.
Balloon or residual
A lump sum deferred to the end of the term lowers the monthly repayment along the way. Useful when cash flow is tight. You can settle or refinance the balloon when it falls due.
Fleet finance
Several vehicles, each on its own agreement and managed separately. Volume applications may qualify for better bank rates. We coordinate the whole fleet.
Business Vehicle Finance Requirements
Carfin works with many kinds of business. This is what the banks typically look for.
Businesses we can assist
- Registered Pty Ltd or CC with active CIPC status
- Sole traders with provable income (bank statements and financials)
- Partnerships with a signed partnership agreement
- Businesses with 12+ months of operating history
- Self-employed individuals (consultants, contractors, freelancers)
- Businesses with existing finance that want to restructure or add a vehicle
What makes approval harder
- A business registered less than 12 months ago with no trading history
- A business or director with a poor credit profile and nothing to offset it
- No provable income or no bank statements
Where Carfin cannot help
We cannot help if the applicant or a director is under debt review or administration. The National Credit Act does not allow new credit while you are under debt review. We also cannot help an applicant with a judgment that has not been paid and rescinded.
Self-Employed? Car Finance Without a Payslip
You do not need a payslip to finance a car or bakkie. You need to show the bank what you earn.
Banks finance self-employed people, sole traders and contractors every day. In place of a payslip they look at your bank statements and your business records. Six months of personal and business bank statements, an accountant's letter confirming your income and your latest financial statements or management accounts usually cover it.
A direct bank application is often harder when your income moves from month to month. Carfin prepares your application so each bank sees your income clearly, and sends it to the top banks at the same time.
Required Documents
What you need depends on how your business is set up. Your consultant confirms the exact list once you apply.
| Document | Registered company (Pty Ltd or CC) | Sole trader or self-employed |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Director's certified South African ID | Certified South African ID |
| Registration | CIPC company registration certificate (CK document) | Not needed |
| Bank statements | Six months of business bank statements | Six months of personal and business bank statements |

| Address | Proof of business address (utility bill or bank letter) | Proof of residential address (not older than 3 months) |
Not sure which list applies to you?
Start by pre-qualifying. It is a soft credit check with no impact on your score, and your consultant will tell you exactly what to send.

Yes. Banks look at income you can prove. That usually means six months of personal and business bank statements, an accountant's letter or financial statements, and a clear credit profile. A direct bank application is often harder for a self-employed person. Structuring these applications is one of the things Carfin does best.
Once Carfin has all the documents, it takes the application to the banks and handles their decisions for your business. Some applications, such as self-employed or first-time business applicants, may need extra affordability checks. Your consultant keeps you updated at every stage.
