Private Sale Car Finance in South Africa
Structured, secure, straightforward. Carfin arranges the finance, manages all payments securely between buyer and seller, and handles the title transfer, so both sides are protected.
How Private Sale Finance Works
No cash between buyer and seller. No risk of a vehicle with outstanding finance. Four protected steps.
Buyer Applies
The buyer submits their finance application and documents to Carfin. We verify the vehicle's registration, title status, and any existing finance.
Carfin Arranges Finance
We submit to top banks simultaneously. The buyer receives the best available offer and accepts the rate that suits them.
Carfin Settles and Pays
Carfin manages the payment securely, settling any existing finance on the vehicle first, then transferring the net balance to the seller by EFT.
Title Transfers, Buyer Takes Delivery
Once the settlement is confirmed and the title is clear, the vehicle is transferred to the buyer's name. Delivery happens only at this stage.
Private Sales Are Common. The Risks Are Avoidable.
The most common private sale problem is a vehicle that still has existing finance, meaning the seller does not fully own it. Without a structured process, a buyer can pay in full and still not receive clean title. Carfin eliminates this risk by verifying ownership and settling all existing finance before any money moves.
- Vehicle title verified before any funds are released
- Existing finance settled directly with the lender
- No cash between buyer and seller; Carfin manages the transfer
- Sale agreement provided and managed by Carfin
